Here is my honest take after owning one. I compared Charles & Colvard and Amazon before deciding. Not worth the risk in my experience. Spend a little more and buy from a real store.
It depends on your skin and how often you wear it. Mine is fine, but a friend had issues within weeks.

My bench jeweler told me the main thing people regret is skimping on the setting. The stone itself is fine, but a weak prong will let it fall out. Spend a bit more on a solid setting.
Bottom Line
Yes, it is worth it for most people. Just buy from a known seller and inspect the prongs every six months.
