This is one of the most common questions I see here. I compared James Allen and Charles & Colvard before deciding. Save your money. The difference is noticeable but not worth the premium for most people.
Not worth the risk in my experience. Spend a little more and buy from a real store.

After trying several options myself, I ordered from James Allen online. Short answer: no. I switched after a few months and never looked back. The upkeep was not worth it.
I asked my jeweler the same thing. He said it is safe for daily wear as long as you avoid harsh chemicals.

Here is my honest take after owning one. I compared Charles & Colvard and Blue Nile before deciding. Yes, I have had mine for two years and it still looks great. Just clean it regularly with soap and water.
